Myself and Kudrel For a first year con I am astonished at the turnout that Ottawa Comic Con got in terms of attendance and cosplayers. Over 20,000 weekend passes and thousands more daily passes were sold leading to quite a lineup to get inside. That's not bad for a government town. Check out the gallery below for some cosplay photos. Saturday Don't call me Katara... I spent the days hanging out with friends like Kudrel and scoping out the convention. I got mistaken for Katara quite often but understandably so, considering the series just came out. I recruited some people for masquerade and as soon as I could tell it was judging time. Masquerade The masquerade allowed for extra contestants to enter to meet the demand and they did not miss a beat. There was a nice variety of costumes from Games, Comics and Anime. Most contestants were in the novice category, some participating in their first masquerade ever, but the skill level was amazing. There was a perfectly constructed master Chief costume, a killer Pyramid Head, and lots of lovely Marvel costumes. Forgive me for not having photos of the participants, judging duties came first. We had an amazing MC for the show who really animated the introductions of the cosplayers, and the crowd was lively and encouraging. Kudrel, Marie-Claude Bourbonnais and I judged the presentations and we dodged death in the form of a flying ax head that hit our table during the show :o Deliberations are always hard, but in the end the Pyramid Head came on top with his creepy performance and great construction of his costume. He made an apron of skin with papertowels and liquid latex, plus he made fake arms by painting his own 17 times with liquid latex! Sunday A huge lobster! I took it easy on this day and spent my time running into friends and talking photos with James. I helped out Kudrel by co-hosting her Cosplay 101 panel. It was a full room and I'm glad knowing that people left with a little more cosplay knowledge. Wrapped up the day by handing out the masquerade awards then heading home to relax. Cons are so draining for me lately.

Hi there, could you forward my contact info to Kudrel please (Krystal Messier). I moved to Calgary but grew up in Ottawa in the goth scene and have been having a hell of a time reaching out to Krystal. Mainly because I refuse to use Facebook. Your help is appreciated.
