Candid shot from Aion photoshoot _Last year was an interesting one indeed. It was the first year that I didn't really accomplish my cosplay goal of creating my set list of costumes. I was bogged down with school work which made me learn how to make due with little time. I only made 5 out 7 costumes I planned. Even with that in mind and the horrible weather, I still had a great year cosplaying. This blog will be a summary of last year's highlights and lowlights. Blog Highlights: See how much it costs to be a traveling cosplayer; my favourites from costumes, props and conventions; a round up of features and awards; a good commission year; and a look to 2012.

They sneak up on you! It was my first year at Youma and I had a good time. All my misfortunes were not con related, instead it happened whenever I left the convention center. Detroit cabs suck and the Holiday Inn has seen better days. The convention has the feel of a small convention but had many attendees, which is no surprise that they are expanding to an extra venue next year. I will likely come back next year, so long as I convince a few more friends to attend. We lost a few to various reasons at the last minute. They were missed. Youmacon Highlights: Miss January, creative costumes, cool photos, nice weather, confusing venue, cabby drama, hangouts, and great rave. Lineup for Fanexpo 2011 FanExpo is the biggest fan related convention in Canada and this is my 4th year atttending. The con covers a variety of genres including: Comics, Gaming, Horror, Sci-Fi, and Anime FanExpo is not fan run, instead it is operated by a company so you notice the efforts to grab your money. I spent the most of the convention catching up with Toronto cosplayers and photographers. I also participated in the masquearde and got some great results. FanExpo Highlights: LINEUPS!, barriers, lack of anime, lack of cosplayers, not cosplay friendly, and delivering the goods at the masquerade ;) |
