Takane - Idolmaster One for All
Variation:
Majestic Avi Monkey designed by Mari Shimazaki
Worn at:
Colossalcon 2015 - Sandusky Ohio
Description:
I spotted this costume on Twitter soon after wrapping up the previous year's Colossalcon and I kept it in the vault for the following year. I liked the mermaid theme and it got bonus points from me since I have a wig in my collection.
Green Fabric: All the green fabric is spandex that has been gradient dyed with iDye Poly. The gloves were made using a basic Simplicity glove pattern without the fourchettes. I freestyled the boot covers by draping and pinning them on a pair of pumps then sewing it together. They held up perfectly with fashion tape on the thighs. The skirt is made by laying down hand cut strips of scales (made of the same spandex) that were all dyed different shades of green to give it the gradient look. The base of the skirt is flexifirm cut into a circle skirt.
Bow/Frills: This was made with charmeuse silk that was gradient dyed with acid dye. I lightly dyed it yellow as well but the all purpose dye didn't catch, but I prefer the look of white/pale yellow anyway.
Gems: The plan was the use Transpart but I had to backtrack due to time constraints so it's a model magic base painted with purple pearl paint with one layer of Transpart superglued on top. The mint pearls were then glued on with E6000. The turquoise teardrop gems were also hand painted with nail polish.
Pearls: I couldn't find mint pearls in all the sizes I needed so I ended up painting them all by hand.
Seashell Bra: Full tutorial can be found here
I used an old bra in the right colour as a base. I made a boob cast with Kroblacast then used it to pattern the bra with painter's tape. I transferred the pattern to some yoga mat, cut the pieces, then covered it in worbla. I did a base coat in gold gold gesso then covered it with white pearl paint from Martha Stewart. The gesso was used again for shading.
Crown & Cuffs: The crown is one layer of worbla glued atop of a white headband. Rhinestone were superglued to the top and beads hot glued to hang down the front. The cuffs are worbla and craftfoam with a gap in the cuff to squeeze my hand inside.
