Yeticon 2026 - Blue mountains / Collingwood Why this costume? Jojo costumes are elite and I had enough leftover fabric from other characters to make this costume. I also wanted a project with a quick turnaround so I started this 4 days before leaving for a convention. Description: Bodysuit: I used a 4-way stretch spandex with a holographic crackle on it for maximum impact. I combined 2 patterns to make the bodysuit: the upper half is Kwiksew's 3502 bodysuit pattern and the bottom half is Burda's 7141 legging pattern For the cutouts I patterned everything out on wrapping paper, my my layout, then pin it to the top of the fabric. I used the penciled in design as my sewing guide then perforations in the paper made it easy to pull away the paper afterwards. Below the main fabric was a 4-way stretch nude mesh. I pinched the black fabric to make a small cut then cut the rest of the design out using my stiches as a guideline. The fur cut are stitch down on one side then snaps on the other. Gold Accents: I used 6mm foam as a base and covered them in 4way stretch gold vinyl using a 3m spray adhesive. They are then handstitched to the bodysuit. Belt: I used a leather blank belt and painted it red with Angelus leather paint. I cut out the W also in leather and glued it on with contact cements. It was painted gold then with gold glitter leather paint from Pebeo. To keep the structure and strength of the belt, instead of a floating W, the negative space is painted black. Hat: I took many measurements of my head and hairline for the base of the hat. I cut it both in buckram and faux white fur. The one I had in my stash was too long so it was trimmed with a beard trimmer. I also covered the buckram in satin for a softer lining. The horns are foam clay with wire, bent and glued into the inside of the hat. They were painted gold and also a little gold glitter. |
