Katsucon 2016- Washington DC Colossalcon 2017 - Sandusky, Ohio Description: Check out the W.I.P. gallery for many progress images. Wig: I used a silver Luthien from Arda Wigs . I curled the bangs using plastic curlers and my small steam machine. Headpiece: I created a semi circle shape by casting worbla over a foam ball. I covered it in plastic wrap to make sure it didn't stick. The worbla was then painted white with gesso then covered in feathers and rhinestones. I also made a band with lace and more embellishments. All these pieces were glued to a white plastic headband. Corset: I used McCalls 7218, which strangely enough is also for a feathered corset. I used leftover satin for the lining and white denim as the outer layer. I wanted a textured stiff fabric that would be easy to glue feathers on top of. It has plastic boning and it laces up the back with silver grommets. As for the feathers, I started adding them from the edges and working my way to the centre using E6000 Fabrifuse, starting with the blue feathers at the cups. Here's the completed corset without the sparkle. Then I glued many, many rhinestones using GemTac and finished it off with a large rhinestone applique. Skirt & Tights: I gathered a lot of white curtain sheer fabric into the skirt and added layers of ruffles at the top for extra poof. At the bottom of the skirt I added a white lace and embellished it with rhinestones. I made a lace cage to hold all the ostrich feathers on top of the sheer skirt. Rhinestones were added to the feathers for more sparkle. I also made a feathered tail using a longer strand of lace attached to the lace cage. I dip-dyed a pair of white tights with turquoise iDye poly and bedazzled my leggings using GemTac and rhinestones. Necklace: I added jewelry findings to some rhinestone trim to make the necklace. |
