Katsucon 2018 - Washington DC Yeticon 2019 - Collingwood Why this costume: I have always loved Storm and I have already made her original uniform a few years back. Her white uniform is so iconic I knew I had to do it. I worked on it on and off for years and finally decided to start it basically from scratch to make this costume Description: Wig: I used two wigs from Arda, a Matilda with an Ororo stacked over top bun enhancers. There was lots of teasing to get some extra lift and to blend the wigs together. See tutorial in video tab. Bodysuit: I made the bodysuit with white and gold ultrapreme from Cosplayfabrics.com. I used some historical sleeve patterns as inspiration for her huge sleeves. There is almost as much fabric in the sleeves as in the torso. X buttons are made with styrene and craftfoam. I added a fabric backing so that I could hand stitch them to the suit. Capes: Heavy satin with ultrapreme trim that are clipped to hooks on the shoulders and hand sewn to the cuffs. Shoulder pads: These were made using yoga mats and worbla to keep the curved shape. They were coated in spray adhesive then covered with ultrapreme. They attach to the bodysuit with velcro. |
