Why this costume?
I'm making all the eeveelutions! I experimented with heavily styling the wig, some embroidery, and lettuce hems for this round.
Description:
Headpiece: I used a halo crown from Aliexpress and strung glass beads along the upper halo with wire. I also strung some decorative leaf beads with wire, and draped some tiny seed beads along everything.
Ears: The ears are carved out of a dense foam as the base and coated with a gradient of light yellow and green acrylic paint.
Wig: I did some heavier styling and wanted to practice styling with gel. I bought the wig off Aliexpress and dip dyed the ends green with iDye. I added extra dimension to the green by adding more colour with green Copic markers. I did some wispy spikes by teasing most of the wig, thinning the ends with thinning shears and a razor and styled the spikes with a steamer, Got2be glued, long pins, alligator clips and a hair dryer. The front curl was done with an excessive amount of Got2be ultra glued gel and pins.
Necklace: I originally planned to have these strings of green peals dangling form the dress embroidery but the cord was too stiff so I opted to make a necklace instead with dangling water beads to weigh it down. The rest was used to decorate the leg accessories.
Leg accessories: I got to use some fake flowers from my hoard. They were hot glued to a felt base as well as ribbons for attachments. I covered them with a lot of rhinestones
Clothing: I dyed some 4-way stretch sheer mesh with a iDye poly in yellow (very diluted) and Tintex in green. I also dyed the dangly lace trim and spandex for the bottoms in green as well. I finished the bottom of the dress with a lettuce hem. I figured it was a cute little detail that added interest to the dress without weighing it down. For the bust area, I attached the embroidery to silk organza practicing how to tambour embroider. I also added a few decorative French knots, seed beads, and rhinestones.
All the embroidered patches like the vine appliques were hand stitched onto the dress after carefully pinning them down and getting the right placement on a mannequin. Once in place, they were covered in rhinestones using gemtac and a wax pencil.
I got some off white 3D embroidered flowers from AliExpress and custom coloured them with yellow and gold alcohol markers. I also added some seed and bugle beads, along with rhinestones to embellish them. These are scattered on the dress and mainly used to transition between the leafy green embroidery pieces.
A few leaf beads and teardrop beads are used throughout the costume like where the straps connect to the dress and the centre of the bust. The straps are decorative ribbon from Fabricland.
