PictureVilla-con or Party-con? Which has a better ring to it?
I don't know how this con gets better every year but it does. Other conventions will have a hard time keeping up.

Thursday

Calamity and I were on a train for over 5 hours the day before, then we got to drive for over another 5+ hours from Toronto to Ohio with friends from the city. We made it down with no issues with our Canadian convoy. First order of business was to plant Canadian flags on the lawn, then go to Wal-mart to pick up groceries.

The villas are stellar. It definitely made the stay more enjoyable and luckily it wasn't that far away from the venue and you could hop a shuttle from a lobby with their friendly driver Dexter (He's a potential cosplayer in waiting) if you didn't want to walk.

The night was spent settling into the villa for some last minute costume work.
Did I mention we were in a villa?

Friday

PictureTera swim preview
Spandex is not my friend and it is a miracle that I even got this done. The first Tera swimsuit was botched since I used the wrong material for lining. I managed to pull this one out in a night using a basic bikini as a base.

I slept in on Friday and got dressed in my Tera swimsuit at noon after cooking up some breakfast with my roomies. I had to cancel using my alcohol activated makeup because it needed 99% alcohol and 91% was the best I could find at Wal-Mart. Instead I used Snazaroo and I painted only the stomach marks because  water + water-based makeup = runny/no makeup. I also helped Eveille Cosplay paint on her stripes for the Merle cosplay. It just so happens it’s the same makeup I use for my Merle.

I shot with Anna Fischer andLiquid Cocaine Photography in the waterpark,  pool and in the sand. The makeup held up even when dipped in the water.

The afternoon and evening was spent in the waterpark and at the hot-tub bar hanging out with friends from the other villa.

I also had a lovely chicken dinner with the roomates. There was a little partying on Friday night but the best was saved for Saturday night.

Saturday - Day

Saturday was a whirlwind. My zipper on my Elika costume broke on my way out to my first shoot :( Also my wig wouldn't stay flipped up. I think the heat bent it back to its original shape every 30 minutes or so. My left eye was super irritated and I had to skip on wearing false lashes in the morning to spare it some irritation. Man does it make a difference in photos. Even with all that it was still a good day.

I did 4 shoots in Elika around the venue. Some with my friend dressed as the Prince of Persia and even one at sunset. I'm very excited to see the photos. I will most likely be retiring Elika because  the costume was on and off for years, so the quality is varied and it is already broken after one wear. Luckily that fits with the worn look she has. I stayed in the costume a little longer than anticipated but I still managed to get in some waterpark time later in the day.

Here's a few pics of cosplayers/friends I snapped at the event.

Saturday - Night

Saturday night needs it's own sections. It was stellar. I haven't had this much fin in a while. There were cards, sing-a-longs, dancing, twerking, dance battles, pool table dancing, buffer massages, bear heads, Jacuzzi, bongo drumming, sparklers, and all things that make a party fun. So much fun we blew a fuse and repair men had to come fix it.

The party went on till the early morning. I was there till 2:30 and still had a blast.
We're singing Bohemian Rhapsody. Can't you tell?

Sunday

Checking out the next morning was rougher on some than others. Luckily those who stayed up till the wee-hours of the morning were nice enough to pick-up the bulk of the mess.

Sunday was spent hanging out at the con mostly in the video game room. I had to get my taiko drum fix. A little bit of time at the was spent at the resort arcade, then I had lunch at the hotel lobby restaurant while learning about the US WCS system.  I caught a quick look at the tiger cubs in the lobby. What cuties and a perfect send off for Colossal.

I was half asleep for most of the car ride back to Toronto. I was especially tired for the train ride back to Ottawa  but it's nice to be home after so many conventions!

Next up for me is Otakuthon in Auguest and competing for WCS (a first for Canada) and the masquerade. Hahahaha the end is near.
