![]() 2012 was a year of more and less. I went to more conventions but I made less costumes. I made less commissions but I sold more in artist alleys. I participated in less masquerades but I judged more of them. Here is a recap of my life in cosplay for 2012, including my costumes, expenses, favourites, and let downs.

![]() Renaissance Center Where do I even start? This con gave me mixed feelings, especially considering the great time I had last year. There was a lot of good and bad. So I'm switching up my journal format to talk about the pros and con of this year's Youmacon. So let's jump right in... Highlights: Poorly organized, friends everywhere, meeting new people, gaming, hot tub, confusion, & delicious food. This was my first time travelling alone by plane and to New York city no less. I had a great time in the Big Apple.
Here are the highlights: Fabric shopping, Times Square, Huge Con, Loads of Goodies, Karaoke, Archery, and Good Friends. ![]() VickyBunnyAngel and Myself Small and sweet. Unplugged Expo was a great first year convention. Everyone was friendly and the people who attended the panels had genuine interest in the topics.I got to catch up with many of my Toronto cosplay friends. I did two brief shoots, one with EleventhPhotograph as Korra and another with Rocky, a newcomer to cosplay photography, and I can't wait for the photos of my Karako Nurse. VickyBunnyAngel and I hung out for most of the weekend as we did several panels together plus judged the masquerade. Tamar Wolfe was a great friend and helped me out at my table. I just want to say thank you to everyone who attended the panels I was running or assisting. A great thanks to the con staff who were stellar and very helpful. ![]() Myself as Korra and Attyca as Lin Otakuthon has been a yearly tradition for myself for the last 6 years. Many of my cosplay friends are regulars as well, so it always makes for a fun weekend. This was my first time in the dealer's room/artist alley for the whole weekend, and my third time judging a masquerade. Highlights: Meeting Adella and Alodia, selling at my table, some Korra antics, masquerade jugdging, and hanging out with friends. Otakon is always a fun adventure and a sweaty mess.
Here are the Highlights: Crunchyroll, Avatar everywhere, New friends, Heat Exhaustion, and Good Food. Fun is the only word to describe the weekend I had at ColossalCon. Waterpark+Safari+Cosplay = AMAZING
A suite filled with lovely friends always sweetens the deal, especially if Disney sing-a-longs are involved. Here's a blog breakdown since there is so much to talk about: the Venue, the Safari, the Convention & Cosplay, and Quality time with friends. ![]() Fire ferrets group! This was my 8th year at Anime North. There were a few hiccups but hanging out with my best cosplay friends can make anything better. I took tons of photos since I had so much free time not participating in the masquerade this year. Highlights: lineups, great costumes, the heat, fire ferrets. ![]() Myself and Kudrel For a first year con I am astonished at the turnout that Ottawa Comic Con got in terms of attendance and cosplayers. Over 20,000 weekend passes and thousands more daily passes were sold leading to quite a lineup to get inside. That's not bad for a government town. Check out the gallery below for some cosplay photos. ![]() SteamPixie Table I spent the most of my weekend at Wizard World manning the SteamPixie booth with Kudrel and co. It was nice meeting new people and helping them turn into pixies. I also made a few sales of my own, YAY! Overall the convention was laidback. There was a steady flow of people on Saturday with a slower flow on Sunday, but I was expecting more attendees. Below are some photos of some of the few cosplayers at the event, they were hard to come by. I wore Karako (Nurse Vers) on Saturday but did not take any photos. Sorry. I didn't spot any of my usual photographer friends. Ad-Astra 2012 ![]() At Check-in @Ad-Astra I only got a Saturday night pass to attend the dance and the masquerade which had only 15 entries. Kudrel won some awards for her delightfully creepy original Gargoyle costume. The con was pretty unorganized this year: registration was late, they didn't have schedules most of Friday, and event times didn't match in the booklet and the schedule. Hopefully they can get their act together for next year. I really liked attending 2 years ago and was quite disappointed with my latest visit. Wizard World Costumes & Merch
