Vanilla Ice - Jojo's Bizzare Adventure
Why this costume?
Why would I not want to make the most ridiculous outfit I've seen in ages. And this is supposed to be a prison uniform. Sold! Description: Wig from Aliexpress Hat: I drafted a pattern on paper and made it out of metallic spandex which is also used for the sleeves and the back of the shirt. I used iron on interfacing for more structure plus Flexifirm (stiff felt) to hold the shape. I attached gold studs with a bedazzleler. I glues some matching taffeta for the lining and added some magnets which attaches to a matching set I embedded in some fabric which goes under the wig. The horns are made with worbla scraps, painted gold and attach using brooch pins. Top: It was a tedious nightmare. After trying to use a fabric turner with no luck I decided to make the strips with folded pieces of Cosplays fabrics oil slick. The mesh was mapped out on a paper pattern laid out on my work table and the strips were glued together with E6000 fabricfuse, then secured by stitching it together. The back piece spandex and covered by gold painted googly eyes. I opted out of adding the GDS Jail text on the back since the wig was going to cover most of it anyway, and I liked the look more without it. Footsteps: I used 5mm EVA foam covered in metallic spandex using 3M spray adhesive. The backs have fabric strips to hand stitch it to the top. Belt & Skirt: The belt is made of craft foam with a Velcro closure and eyelet details. The footstep is hot glued on. The skirt is a draped purple taffeta. Purple was a more flattering colour than brown and matched the rest of the costume. It had a red shift and undertone so it relates to the original warm brown. Bottoms: I almost made this into a skirt because shorts was extra patterning work. I made all the strip with white Cosplay Fabrics Ultrapreme. They are pretty long since I didn't want to attach them to the boots. Instead I made cuff to prevent them from rising. The underwear is made with the same fabric using a modified Butterick 4526 swimsuit pattern. Boots: I bought them from Aliexpress ages ago originally for my Storm cosplay. |
