Espeon (Original Design) - Pokémon
Worn at:
Katsucon 2024 - Washington, DC
Why this costume?
I'm making all the eeveelutions and one of the key elements is stretch mesh. This time I wanted to use a fun pattern from the pattern magic books.
Other costumes in this collection: Sylveon, Umbreon, Jolteon, & Vaporeon.
Description:
Headpiece: I bought a halo crown from Aliexpress and decorated it with beads and wire.
The wig is a Heidi from Arda Wigs in light grey that was dyed purple. The wig was crimped and styled into a flipped bob with curlers and steam.
Ears: The ears are made with dense foam as the base and a thin foam overlay. They were painted with blue and purple with acrylic paint. A wire was threaded through the base for extra hold onto the headband that it is attached to. The headband is plastic and was sanded then painted to match the wig.
Clothing: I batch dyed stretch mesh, spandex, applique, and the wig to get a nice monochrome look for everything. I used the apple peel pattern in the Pattern magic book for stretch fabric for both the jacket and pants. For the pants I decided to add a ribbon belt waistband. The bodysuit is spandex and the applique was attached using the quilting foot on my sewing machine. The appliqué was custom coloured with Copic markers and decorated with rhinestones. I used Gemtac to attach the rhinestone along with a wax pen.
